Our Very Own Spot

Yes, I'm leaving Portland. I'm really sad about it. Really sad. It's harder than leaving Colorado to come out here was for me. I just don't feel quite... done... with Portland yet, I don't know. I love this city. And I'm going to miss Valerie and fam SO MUCH.

But I'm in my last year of school, and this year means rotational externships. Which mean I'm now working as an optometrist, but paying my school for the honor of doing so. No paychecks yet. I'm just finishing my "internal" rotation which was working at the clinics here run by our school. In two weeks I'm moving to Denver where I will work at a Lasik Center for a few months. In November I move up to Cheyenne, Wy (yeehaw!) to work at the VA hospital there. In February I'll pack up (again!) and move to St Louis, Mo to work at a contact lens and general practice clinic. Finally, FINALLY in May I'll graduate as Dr. Jo for real.

And then I'm done with school forever. Unless I decide I hate this and go back to law school or something. heh.

So I don't know, that's the short story. We all need to be better about posting updates, don't we?

I agree Maki, we require greater detail about the house. And photos too please.

And because I somehow feel the need to post a photo with my entry too, here's one of the lovely view from my current apartment, and Lucy-Lu as well.

update

Jo gave me the heads up there were new blogs on here... I gave up and hadn't checked in months. Note that is her in the picture at a jazz festival we went to last last weekend. Jo is leaving me and she should post about that. (Okay so maybe it is not really about me) Wendy, how is the new baby???? We are all wondering... surely you have had her by now. Hope all is okay and went well. Maki... congrats on the new house... description please.... we need details. We were are in the middle of a kitchen remodel on our 100+ home this summer. So I have been hiding and traveling away from our house with the kiddos as much as possible. Summer has been going by sooo fast. Ephraim and I am gearing up for a co-op preschool, provided they let his partially immunized self into school...(long story). I think he is going to love it. Co-op means that it will come with a some work for me too, but it should be fun getting to know some new neighborhood families. I get to be the classroom photographer/"yearbook" maker, so it should be fun too. Salome turned one and is the sweetest thing most of the time. She is so fun. We went to Colorado for a brief visit in July....Mike Robichaud got remarried. He married Shannon, the girl he has lived with for years. Cindy, did you meet her at the crazy party we went to a long time ago? think vinyl clad table dancer....a memory that does not fit with how she really is. They seemed really happy, and it was great. It was such a trip going back, we are really considering moving back (possibly denver area) but it is so different that where and how we live now. It would be a major adjustment. Any thoughts from you denver based people on good urban places for young families to live with decent schools would be very interesting. I really don't know if ryan could ever do suburb life again... So anyways that is what is up with us for now.

Wow. I can't believe it's been so long since any of us have posted anything either!
The biggest news I have is that Brian and I are closing on a house on Friday! It's a little farther from the city than I would like (an hour by train) but it's a great town. Otherwise life is still the same. That's probably why I haven't posted in so long. I hope at least one of you has a more exciting life than I do. Please tell us about it so I can live vicariously through you!
