Salome means peace and it was the only name I really was sure about that I liked. Alea is a name we have always liked, but weren't sure it was meant to be for her. Anyways we were planing on using Salome as the middle name, but when she was born decided she was meant to be Salome. The weird part of the story is that before my mom knew that we were thinking of that name she found out in a geanology of my family that there is an Ephraim and Simeon who were brothers in my family. I had no idea that Ephraim was a family name and to add to that my older sister had just named her baby boy Simeon only two months before that. So she was suprised too. And then to top it off I asked my mom to look for any interesting girl names as we were still looking for a first name. And among a sea of Mary's and Catherines, she spells out a name that she couldn't pronounce S-A-L-O-M-E. I couldn't believe it, Salome is also a family name, so that pretty much solidified that it was meant to be her name somehow. I originally found it in the bible and just loved its meaning. Peace is a good thing. SO when she was born it seemed to just fit, although I can't say that her first 2 months have been exactly peaceful, I am still hopeful that the name will eventually describe her :) valerie
